Graphis nanodes Vainio (1921: 209) .
Type:— PHILIPPINES. Luzon: Benguet province, Pauai , May 1913, E. B. Copeland 1382 (TUR-Vainio 27261, lectotype, designated by Lücking et al. (2009: 401).
Thallus corticolous, whitish or bluish white, continuous, smooth, scarcely corticate, dull. Lirellae erumpent, with a thick lateral thalline margin, short, straight or curved, unbranched, labia convergent, entire, not pruinose, disc concealed, (lineola- morph). Exciple laterally carbonized; hymenium clear; ascospores 4–8/ascus, hyaline, densely muriform, 30–50 × 12–20 μm (protologue).
Chemistry: no lichen substances by TLC, (Nakanishi on annotation slip attached to the type).
Distribution and habitat:—Reported from the Philippines (type locality) and from Thailand for the first time by Poengsungnoen et al. (2010) from Loei province growing in lower montane scrubs. It was not present in our collections.
Remarks:—Very similar is G. consimilis (see above). The only difference which we could find is a basal thalline margin in G. consimilis and a lateral thalline margin in G. nanodes . More collections and eventually molecular methods are necessary to decide whether two distinct species are involved.
