Digonocryptus yunus Aguiar et Ramos , sp. nov.

Figs 47, 48, 101, 216, 256

Description. Holotype FEMALE. Fore wing 9.3 mm.

Head. Ventral tooth of mandible approximately as long as dorsal tooth. Clypeus apical area delimited by smooth border; clypeal margin with two teeth. Antenna beyond flagellomere VI missing; white band starting at flagellomere IV.

Mesosoma . Mesopleuron glabrous, 100% of cuticular surface visible; partially striate. Subalar prominence more or less elongate, not keeled. Sulcus between sternaulus and scrobe absent. Posterior transverse carina of mesosternum absent. Lower metapleuron striate-rugulose. Propodeum: area in front of anterior transverse carina polished, smooth, medially without longitudinal ridges. Propodeal apophyses present as small scale-like structures. Posterior transverse carina absent. Area of propodeum behind anterior transverse carinae mostly transversely arcuately striate, radially around petiolar foramen. Fore wing in Fig. 216; vein 3-Cu 1.70 length of 4-Cu. Hind wing in Fig. 256.

Metasoma. Postpetiole dorso-anteriorly, at level of spiracles, distinctly concave, forming shallow elongate depression; dorsolateral and median dorsal carinae absent; petiolar spiracles in dorsal view not prominent. Ovipositor 1.52 length of hind tibia. Apex of lower valve with 13 teeth.

Color. Light orange (255,186,049) and black, with pale greenish yellow marks (251,255,139). Lateral pattern as in Fig. 47. Orbital band interrupted only at malar space; width on supra-antennal area and temple and gena about 0.2 of interocular distance, slightly narrower on gena. Supraclypeal area mostly yellow, except narrowly from parantennal impression to supra-antennal area. Labrum and clypeus yellow, except apical area black; clypeal sulcus laterally dark brown. Head otherwise black. Mesosoma light orange. Propodeum as in Figs 47–48. Hind coxa black, except basal end reddish brown. Tibiae yellowish, hind tibia with brown tint apically. Fore and mid t1–2 yellowish brown, except apex dark brown; t3–5 dark brown. Hind tarsus yellow. Metasoma dorsally black, except as follows (Fig. 101). Petiole orange, changing to black on postpetiole, which apically has large semicircular yellow spot. T2–6 apical margin with yellow stripe, stripes progressively narrower from T2 to T6; widest medially on T2. T7 apical margin medially with large yellow spot. T8 black.

MALE. Unknown.

Comments. The entirely light orange mesosoma contrasting with black and yellow head and metasoma is unique among all known Digonocryptus .

Material examined. HOLOTYPE ♀ “Jatún Yacu, 700 m, Banos, Ecuador, March 1937, W. Clarke-MacIntyre.”; “ Digonocryptus // sp. 25// Tow. 1957” ( AEIC). Right wings slide mounted; antenna apex and left hind t3–5 missing.

Distribution. Ecuador.
