Distribution:— According to Govaerts et al. (2016), Cyrtorchis hamata occurs in four countries ( Ivory Coast, Ghana, Nigeria, and Gabon), although we have not examined any material from Ghana and Gabon. We have, however, seen specimens clearly assignable to this species from two other countries: Togo and Cameroon. Cyrtorchis hamata is thus distributed in Upper and Lower Guinea Domains.

Habitat and ecology:— Epiphyte in high semi-deciduous forest and in secondary vegetation between 200 and 650 m elevation. Flowering peak in August.
