Distribution:— According to Govaerts et al. (2016), Cyrtorchis brownii occurs in fifteen countries ( Sierra Leone, Liberia, Ivory Coast, Nigeria, Equatorial Guinea, São Tomé & Príncipe, Cameroon, Central African Republic, Gabon, Republic of the Congo, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Uganda, Kenya, Tanzania, and Malawi), although we have not examined any material from Sierra Leone, Liberia, Nigeria, Equatorial Guinea, São Tomé & Príncipe, Republic of the Congo, Kenya and Malawi. Cyrtorchis brownii is thus widely distributed in Sub-Saharan Africa.

Habitat and ecology:— Rainforest between 500 and 1,219 m elevation. Flowering peaks in November and December.

Notes:— In the protologue of Angraecum latibracteatum , three syntypes were cited by De Wildeman (1916), Laurent 1773 from Injolo, Laurent 1758 from Yambuya and Seret 194 from Kiravunga, all from Democratic Republic of the Congo. We designated Laurent 1773 as the lectotype of this taxon because the specimen is more complete and representative of the protologue.
