Frons about as long as wide and parallel-sided, with a small yellow anterior marginal area between or rows and two pale brown stripes extending to ocellar triangle; ocellar triangle black; oc strong, slightly shorter than anterior or, anterior or longer than 1/2 length of posterior or. Face brownish yellow on two ventrolateral corners, parafacial brown with black inner margin on ventral 1/2. Gena about 1/5 height of eye. Antenna yellow except for 1st flagellomere brown on dorsal 1/2, 1st flagellomere 1.6 times longer than high; arista short plumose, black except for brownish base, with longest ray as long as height of 1st flagellomere. Proboscis brown and palpus black.

Thorax blackish brown, with brownish gray pruinosity. Mesonotum with 0+3 dc (anterior dc behind transverse suture), acr in irregular 8 rows; prsc shorter than 1st post-sutural dc. Fore femur with 4 strong pv and 6 pd, ctenidium with 12–13 short setae; fore tibia with 1 long preapical ad and 1 short apv. Mid femur with 6 a and 1 app; mid tibia with 1 strong preapical ad and 3 strong apv. Hind femur with 1 preapical ad; hind tibia with 1 preapical ad and 1 short apv. Wing ( Fig. 1 View FIGURES 1 – 12 ) slightly yellow without spot; subcostal cell hyaline; costa with 2nd (between R1 and R2+3), 3rd (between R2+3 and R4+5) and 4th (between R4+5 and M1) sections in proportion of 5:1.5:1; r-m before middle of discal cell; ultimate and penultimate sections of M 1 in proportion of 1:1.1; ultimate section of CuA1 about 1/8 of penultimate. Halter yellow.

Abdomen black, with brownish gray pruinosity. Male genitalia ( Figs 34–38 View FIGURES 34 – 38 ): syntergosternite circular, epandrium nearly trapeziform, with four pairs of long setae in lateral view; surstylus broad, curved and rounded apically with a pair of acute lateral processes in posterior view; hypandrium Y-shaped; pregonite small; aedeagus broad, with a pair of triangular dorsal sclerites in lateral view.

Type material. Holotype ♂ ( CAUC), CHINA, Hainan Province: Ledong, Jianfengling National Nature Reserve, Sanfenqu, 800 m, 8. V. 2008, Qifei Liu. Paratype: 1 ♀ ( CAUC), CHINA, Hainan Province: Ledong, Jianfengling National Nature Reserve, Plant garden, 800 m, 7. V. 2008, Qifei Liu.

Distribution. China (Hainan).

Remarks. The new species is similar to Homoneura (Homoneura) signatifrons (Kertész) from the Oriental and Australian Regions in black body, acr in 8 rows, wing without spot, base of wing and tibia yellow. But it can be separated from the latter by the frons having a small yellow anterior marginal area between two or rows and two pale brown stripes extending to the ocellar triangle, the parafacial being brown with black inner margin on ventral 1/2; the surstylus having a pair of acute lateral processes in lateral view. In H. (H.) signatifrons , the frons doesn’t have stripes; the anterior margin of the frons and the parafacial are entirely brownish yellow; the surstylus is short angular, without acute processes in lateral view ( Sasakawa, 1992; Kim, 1994).

Etymology. Latin, bi-, prefix meaning two + cuspidata, meaning acute, referring to the surstylus rounded apically with a pair of acute lateral processes in posterior view; a feminine adjective.
