Homoneura (Homoneura) caloptera ( Kertész, 1915) View in CoL
( Figs 49 View FIGURES 49 – 54 –59)
Lauxania caloptera Kertész, 1915: 519 View in CoL . Type locality: China ( Taiwan). Syntypes male and female in HNHM. Homoneura (Homoneura) caloptera: Malloch, 1929: 53 View in CoL . Shewell in Delfinado & Hardy, 1977: 201.
Diagnosis. Frons with a pair of brown stripes, extending from anterior margin to vertex. Face with a pair of short brown stripe extending from base of antenna to inner margin of parafacial; parafacial with sparse silvery white pruinosity. Antennal 1st flagellomere blackish brown on apical 1/2–2/3, arista with ray short plumose. A brown triangular spot present between base of antenna and eye. Palpus black on apical 1/2. Mesonotum with a pair of brown medial stripes between dc rows, gray area present between two medial stripes; two lateral stripes along supraalar setae. Scutellum yellow with a large blackish brown spot. Mid and hind legs with blackish brown joint between femur and tibia. Wing with a brown spot at tip of Sc and R1, slightly extending downward, but not confluent with brown cloud on r-m; a large subapical spot on R2+3 confluent with two round spots on R4+5; apical spot on R4+5 extending to costal margin, and confluent with preapical spot on M1; three brown spots present between r-m and apical spot on R4+5, upper margin of T-shaped spot on dm-cu confluent with two brown spots on R4+5. Abdominal tergites 3–6 each with posterior margin, male tergites 2–6 (female 2–7) each with a thin brown stripe-like spot and a pair of small brown lateral spots close to anterior margin.
Redescription. MALE. Body length 3.7–4.3 mm, wing length 3.6–3.8 mm. FEMALE. Body length 3.5–4.2 mm, wing length 3.8–4.3 mm.
Head ( Figs 50, 51 View FIGURES 49 – 54 ) yellow. Frons with a pair of brown stripes, extending from anterior margin to vertex, 1.2 times as long as wide and parallel-sided; ocellar triangle grayish brown; anterior or shorter than posterior or, oc longer than posterior or. Face dark yellow, with a pair of short brown stripe extending from base of antenna to inner margin of parafacial; parafacial with sparse silvery white pruinosity. Gena about 1/8 height of eye. Antenna yellow except for 1st flagellomere blackish brown on apical 1/2–2/3, 1.5 times longer than high; arista with ray short plumose, black except for brownish base, with longest ray as long as 3/4 height of 1st flagellomere. A brown triangular spot present between base of antenna and eye. Proboscis yellow; palpus black on apical 1/2.
Thorax ( Figs 50, 52 View FIGURES 49 – 54 ) grayish yellow. Mesonotum with a pair of brown medial stripes between dc rows, gray area present between two medial stripes; two lateral stripes along supraalar setae; 0+3 dc (1st post-sutural dc very close to transverse suture), acr in 6 rows and prsc shorter than 1st post-sutural dc. Scutellum yellow with a large blackish brown spot. Legs yellow, except mid and hind legs with blackish brown joint between femur and tibia. Fore femur with 2–3 pv, 6 pd, and ctenidium with 11–12 short setae; fore tibia with 1 long preapical ad and 1 short apv. Mid femur with 4–5 a and 1 app; mid tibia with 1 strong preapical ad and 2 strong apv. Hind femur with 1 weak preapical ad and 2 av on apical 1/3; hind tibia with 1 preapical ad and 1 short apv. Wing (Fig.) with many brown spots and pale gray hind margin; a brown spot at tip of Sc and R1, slightly extending downward, but not confluent with brown cloud on r-m; a large subapical spot on R2+3 confluent with two round spots on R4+5; apical spot on R4+5 extending to costal margin, and confluent with preapical spot on M1; three brown spots present between r-m and apical spot on R4+5, upper margin of T-shaped spot on dm-cu confluent with two brown spots on R4+5; costa with 2nd (between R1 and R2+3), 3rd (between R2+3 and R4+5) and 4th (between R4+5 and M1) sections in proportion of 3.7:1.7:1; r-m before middle of discal cell; ultimate and penultimate sections of M 1 in proportion of 1:1.4; ultimate section of CuA1 about 1/8 of penultimate. Halter yellow.
Abdomen ( Figs 49, 53 View FIGURES 49 – 54 ) grayish yellow, tergites 3–6 each with posterior margin, male tergites 2–6 (female tergites 2–7) each with a thin brown stripe-like spot and a pair of small brown lateral spots close to anterior margin. Male genitalia (Figs 55–59): syntergosternite circular with a ventral bridge in anterior view; epandrium with four pairs of long dorsal setae; surstylus consisting of a broad process and a narrow finger-like process in lateral view; hypandrium short and broad H-shaped in ventral view; postgonite subuliform in ventral view, about 2/3 length of aedeagus; aedeagus slender with a small distal concavity, slightly constricted at middle in ventral view, very broaden and round apically in lateral view; aedeagal apodeme almost as long as aedeagus in lateral view.
