Diagnosis. Frons with a pair of brown stripes extending to vertex and a pair of narrow slivery white pruinosity stripes along top of eyes. Face with a pair of grayish black spots on dorsal 1/2, a yellow rhombic medial spot on ventral 1/2; parafacial with sparse silvery white pruinosity and yellowish brown margin on ventral 1/3. Antennal 1st flagellomere brown on apical 2/3. Palpus yellow except for brown at tip. Mesonotum with four brown stripes. Wing with brown round subapical spot on R2+3 slightly separated from an elliptical medial spot on R4+5, apical spot on R4+5 extending upward to vein margin and separated from apical spot on M1; brown clouds on r-m and m-cu; a brown elliptical apical spot at tip of Sc and R1, separated from brown cloud on r-m. Abdomen yellow with sparse grayish white pruinosity, male tergites 3–6 each with a brown stripe-like spot and a pair of transverse stripe-like lateral spots on posterior margin.

Description. MALE. Body length 3.8 mm, wing length 3.2 mm.

Head yellow. Frons as long as wide and parallel-sided, with a pair of brown stripes extending to vertex and a pair of narrow slivery white pruinosity stripes along top of eyes; ocellar triangle black, oc as long as anterior or; anterior or slightly shorter than the posterior, and dark yellow along or rows. Face pale gray with a pair of grayish black spots on dorsal 1/2, two spots confluent basally and originated from antennal fovea (with a slender brown stripe on lateral margin of antennal fovea), and with a yellow rhombic medial spot at ventral 1/2; parafacial with sparse silvery white pruinosity, yellowish brown margin on ventral 1/3; gena about 1/3 height of eye, with a grayish elliptical spot. Antenna yellow except for 1st flagellomere brown on apical 2/3; 1st flagellomere about 1.7 times longer than high; arista black except for brownish base, ray short plumose, with longest ray as long as 2/3 height of 1st flagellomere. Proboscis yellow. Palpus yellow except for brown apically.

Thorax brown with whitish gray pruinosity. Mesonotum with two brown medial stripes along acr rows and two brown lateral stripes along ia and upper margin of sa, and 0+3 dc (anteriormost dc close to transverse suture), acr in 6 rows; prsc absent. Scutellum grayish black except for yellow apical margin. Anepisternum and katepisternum pale brown with whitish gray pruinosity. Legs dark yellow, except for brown at apical tip of hind femur and basal tip of hind tibia. Fore femur with 2–3 pv, 6 pd, and ctenidium with 9 short setae; fore tibia with 1 long preapical ad and 1 short apv. Mid femur with 5 a and 1 app; mid tibia with 1 strong preapical ad, 2 strong apv. Hind femur with 1 weak preapical ad; hind tibia with 1 preapical ad and 1 short apv. Wing ( Fig. 17 View FIGURES 13 – 24 ) hyaline, with brown round subapical spot on R2+3 slightly separated from an elliptical medial spot on R4+5, brown apical spot on R4+5 extending upward to vein margin and separated from apical spot on M1; brown clouds on r-m and m-cu; a brown elliptical apical spot at tip of Sc and R1 confluent with a brown subbasal spot on R2+3, but separated from brown cloud on rm; costa with 2nd (between R1 and R2+3), 3rd (between R2+3 and R4+5) and 4th (between R4+5 and M1) sections in proportion of 3.5:1.5:1; r-m behind middle of discal cell; ultimate and penultimate sections of M 1 in proportion of 1:1.4; ultimate section of CuA1 about 1/7 of penultimate. Halter pale yellow.

Abdomen yellow with sparse grayish white pruinosity, male tergites 3–6 each with a brown stripe-like spot and a pair of transverse stripe-like lateral spots on posterior margin. Male genitalia ( Figs 200–204 View FIGURES 200 – 204 ): syntergosternite circular with an irregular ventral process; epandrium narrow and blunt round apically, slightly contorted on dorsal margin in lateral view; surstylus with a claviform inner process, originated from anterior ventral margin at middle; hypandrium nearly H-shaped; postgonite subuliform and projecting forwards; aedeagus nearly trapeziform in lateral view, with a pair of lobate basal processes, an acute inner process surrounded by two lateral sclerites and a deep apical incision in ventral view, aedeagal apodeme shorter than aedeagus.

FEMALE. Unknown.

Type material. Holotype ♂ ( CAUC), CHINA, Hainan Province: Ledong, Jianfengling National Nature Reserve, Jianfeng town, 800 m, 16. V. 2006, Hui Dong.

Distribution. China (Hainan).

Remarks. The new species is very similar to Homoneura (Homoneura) bistriata (Kertész) from China ( Taiwan) in the following characters: wing with brown clouds on r-m and dm-cu; epandrium narrow and blunt round apically, slightly contorted on dorsal margin in lateral view, and surstylus with an inner process originated from inner side of epandrium, but it can be separated from the latter by the following characters: the mesonotum having four brown stripes; the brown round subapical spot on R2+3 slightly separated from an elliptical medial spot on R4+5 and far from brown cloud on dm-cu, the brown apical spots on R4+5 and M1 being isolated; the brown elliptical apical spot at tip of Sc and R1 separated from brown cloud on r-m; the tip of epandrium being blunt round, the inner process of surstylus being mostly hidden under the epandrium, only apical part exposed in lateral view; the two hypandrial apodemes not being close each other, the postgonite being short and projected forwards; the aedeagus having a deep apical incision. In H. (H.) bistriata , the mesonotum has two brown stripes; the brown round subapical spot on R2+3 is confluent with an elliptical medial spot on R4+5 and brown cloud on dm-cu; the brown apical spot on R4+5 is confluent with that on M1; the brown elliptical apical spot at the tip of Sc and R1 is confluent with the cloud on r-m; the tip of the epandrium is slightly acute apically; the surstylus is mostly exposed except for the basal part hidden under the epandrium in lateral view; the two hypandrial apodemes is slightly close to each other, the postgonite is long and projected downwards; the aedeagus has a small apical incision ( Kertész, 1915; Sasakawa & Ikeuchi, 1982).

Etymology. Latin, quadri-, prefix meaning four + striata, meaning stripe, referring to the mesonotum with four brown stripes; a feminine adjective.
