Habitat: Soil. Grassland soil and litter. Organic matter ( Aquila chrysaetos canadensis nests).

Remarks: Heminothrus sp. is included here because it is the only record of this genus in Mexico. Hammer (1969) and Hoffmann & López-Campos (2000) did not provide the exact location of the collection site for his species reports.
