Fars (Ribes & Pagola Carte 2013), Golestan ( Jakovlev 1877, 1880; Oshanin 1906, 1912; Hoberlandt 1997; Ribes & Pagola Carte 2013), Guilan ( Wagner 1968; Linnavuori 2008; Ribes & Pagola Carte 2013), Mazandaran ( Wagner 1968; Ribes & Pagola Carte 2013), Semnan ( Kiritshenko 1949; Ribes & Pagola Carte 2013), Iran (no locality cited) ( Safavi 1959; Modarres Awal 1997b; Rider 2006).
General distribution. European (Central and Mediterranean), Russia, The Maghreb, Caucasus extending to Iran, Near East.
Host plants. Staria lunata has been collected on a great number of plants belonging to Apiaceae , Lamiaceae , Scrophulariaceae , and Asteraceae (Ribes & Pagola Carte 2013) .
