Distribution in Iran. Ardabil ( Modarres Awal 1996b, 1997b), East Azarbaijan (Ghahari et al. 2010a; Nikdel et al. 2011), Fars ( Kiritshenko 1966; Hoberlandt 1997; Linnavuori 2012), Golestan ( Jakovlev 1877; Wagner 1966; 1968; Heiss 2002), Guilan ( Linnavuori 2008), Khorasan ( Wagner 1966, 1968; Modarres Awal 1996a, 1997b; Nateq Golestan & Modarres Awal 2012), Mazandaran ( Hoberlandt 1959; Linnavuori 2008; Sakenin et al. 2008), West Azarbaijan ( Hoberlandt 1997; Nateq Golestan 2004; Nateq Golestan et al. 2004, 2010a, b, c, 2011), Iran (no locality cited) ( Oshanin 1906, 1912; Safavi 1959; Rider 2006).
General distribution. Palearctic except Scandinavia.
Host plants. On Medicago sativa ( Fabaceae ) ( Modarres Awal 1996a), Onobrychis sp. ( Fabaceae ) ( Modarres Awal 1996b), lucerne, sainfoin ( Fabaceae ) ( Modarres Awal 1997b), M. sativa ( Fabaceae ), Xanthium strumarium ( Asteraceae ) (Sakenin et al. 2008), Rosa sp. , Rubus sp. (both Rosaceae ) ( Nateq Golestan et al. 2011), Cyperus sp. ( Cyperaceae ), Galium sp. ( Rubiaceae ), Juncus sp. ( Juncaceae ), Lamiaceae (Linnavuori 2012) , Elaeagnus sp. ( Elaeagnaceae ) ( Nateq Golestan & Modarres Awal 2012). According to Ribes & Pagola Carte (2013), P. lituratus principally lives on Fabaceae but is also recorded on Oleaceae , Anacardiaceae , and Fagaceae .
