This species is characterized by an olive-green corticate thallus, small, immersed-erumpent chroodiscoid ascomata with layered margins. It differs from all other Pseudotopeliopsis species in having long 21–29-trans-septate ascospores of 100–150 × 15–18 μm.
Distribution and habitat:—The type material was collected in relict montane forest in the northern part of Grande Terre, New Caledonia. The Thai specimen originates from the southeast of Thailand in a ± pristine tropical rainforest at 130 m.
Material from Thailand examined:— Satun province: Khuan Kalong district ; tambon Thung Nui, Panan Waterfall; in a tropical rainforest, on bark of an unidentified tree, 130 m. 06°51’27’’ N, 100°09’36’’ E, 19 December 2016, J. Kalb & K. Kalb 41893, det. R. Lücking (Hb. K. & J. Kalb) GoogleMaps .
Remarks:—This genus is a new addition to the Thai lichen biota and the second record of this species following its description ( Papong et al. 2014a).
