Helix (Conulus) darnleyensis Brazier, 1876a: 102 .

Zonites (Hyalina) Conulus pampini: Cox, 1909: 7 .

Nevelasta pampini: Iredale, 1937c: 13 ; Iredale, 1942: 33; Smith, 1992: 239.

Material examined. Queensland, Australia: AM C126763 (one shell measured, photographed), Wide Bay (24º54' S, 152º6' E), pre 1900 GoogleMaps ; AM C438751 (two specimens dissected, one radula examined), Fritz Creek State Forest near Ayton, Bloomfield River (15º50' S, 145º21' E), complex mesophyll vine forest, with dominant fan palms, arboreal, 24 Oct. 1975, P.H. Colman GoogleMaps .

Description. External morphology: Shell ( Figures 26H View FIGURE 26 , 27H View FIGURE 27 , 28H View FIGURE 28 ) 4.8 whorls, pale golden, transparent, not glossy; protoconch sculptured with spiral and radial ribs (radials stronger); teleoconch with spiral and radial lirae (spirals stronger); shell shape as for genus. Animal white. Sole of foot and caudal apparatus as for genus; caudal horn moderately small.

Mantle cavity ( Figure 38B View FIGURE 38 ): As for genus. Mantle with pigmentation of numerous white spots.

Digestive system: As for genus.

Genital system ( Figures 33G View FIGURE 33 , 39C View FIGURE 39 ): As for genus. Free oviduct long to very long; capsular gland absent. Bursa copulatrix short, approximately same length as free oviduct; duct of bursa copulatrix moderately narrow, distinguishable from bursa copulatrix, internally smooth. Vagina short. Penis short; epiphallus enters penis through a medium length verge, about half penis length; penis internally smooth. Penial sheath enclosing penis and lower part of epiphallus. Epiphallus much longer than penis, internal sculpture not examined. Spermatophore not present in dissected specimens.

Radula ( Figures 30C View FIGURE 30 , 40A–C View FIGURE 40 ): As for genus. Central tooth with very small, high, triangular ectocones. Lateral and marginal tooth fields indistinguishable; latero-marginal teeth with endocones absent; ectocones approximately same length and breadth as mesocone, with 5–9 serrations increasing in number and depth towards outer edge. Radular formula (105.1.105) × 111 rows.

Range and habitat. Coneuplecta (Nevelasta) pampini is found from south of Gladstone in southern Queensland to south of Cooktown in far northern Queensland, with specimens also known from Darnley Island in Torres Strait. The species is usually found in complex mesophyll, microphyll and notophyll vine forests, most commonly in trees but sometimes on the ground or under logs.

Remarks. This species can be distinguished from Coneuplecta calculosa , described below, with which it is sympatric, by its larger size, lower spired shell, stronger protoconch spiral sculpture and stronger teleoconch radial sculpture. It also differs in reproductive and radular characters.
