Lectotype (Irvine in Irvine & Chamberlain, Seaweeds Brit. Isles 1(2B): 56. 1994): Herb. Burser XX: 72 ( UPS) .

Current name: Jania rubens (L.) J.V. Lamour. ( Corallinaceae ).

Note: Although Manza (in Philippine J. Sci. 71: 272. 1940) referred to having seen photographs of "the Linnaean type", it is not clear what this was intended to be.
