Redescription. Length 2.50–3.00 mm ( Fig. 25–28 View FIGURES 19–36 ). Integument reddish brown except for darker pronotum and elytra at base and sides, on dorsum broadly exposed between vestiture; scales mainly distinctly elongate, whitish and reddish brown, remainder suboval white covering base of pronotum, elytral interstria 1, and interspersed on other interstriae. Rostrum ( Fig. 149–152 View FIGURES 149–172 ) distinctly sexually dimorphic, with rostrum of male short and stout and of female long and thin (Rl/Rw 4.12–4.71 in male, 5.63–5.67 in female; Rl/Pl 0.87–1.00 in male, 0.95–1.06 in female). Antennal funicle 7-segmented. Eyes somewhat prominent. Pronotum transverse (Pw/Pl 1.26–1.38), convex on dorsum. Elytra suboval, moderately elongate, distinctly wider at base than pronotum (Ew/Pw 1.31–1.40; El/Ew 1.42–1.48). Metafemora ( Fig. 258 View FIGURES 243–274 ) with indistinct tooth. Profemora ( Fig. 257 View FIGURES 243–274 ) and protibiae ( Fig. 314 View FIGURES 307–339 ) without sexual characters. Claws with robust medial teeth, as long as half of claw. Male genitalia: body of penis ( Fig. 371 View FIGURES 364–371 ) narrow, nearly parallel at sides, as long as apodeme, apex ( Fig. 404 View FIGURES 397–431 ) slightly narrow. Female genitalia: spermatheca ( Fig. 437 View FIGURES 432–457 ) with parallel-sided long ramus, distinct collum, robust nodulus and robust cornu with rounded apex; spiculum ventrale ( Fig. 463 View FIGURES 458–484 ) long, fork-shaped.
Remarks and comparative notes. This species is related to T. oriens and T. thompsoni , from which it differs by the convex eyes and the rostrum being more curved in lateral view. Additionally, it differs from T. oriens also by the sparser vestiture, which is distinctly bicoloured and not unicolorous, and from T. thompsoni by the more transverse and convex pronotum, the more prominent humeri and tarsomere 3 being distinctly wider than tarsomere 2.
Biology. No data are available.
Distribution. Already known from East China (SHG, ZHE). We also examined specimens from FUJ, Southwest (CHQ) and Central China (HUN). Also known from northern Vietnam (type locality: Ha-Long).
