Aricidea jeffreysii sensu Cerruti, 1909 (non McIntosh, 1879), on which the description and illustrations of Fauvel (1927) are based, was referred to Aricidea (Acmira) cerrutii by Laubier (1967). Paraonis paucibranciata is considered a juvenile form by Strelzov (1973) who placed it into synonymy with Aricidea (Acmira) cerrutii . However, Paraonis paucibranchiata in this case would have nomenclatural priority over Aricidea cerrutii - an issue which is not resolved here. Type locality: Mediterranean ( Albères, France).
