Remarks. With 101 (77 males and 24 females) specimens collected, this was the most common species of Kempnyia in PECJ. The head and pronotum are shown in Fig. 14 View FIGURES 14 – 18 and the penial armature in Figs. 17–18 View FIGURES 14 – 18 . It was originally described from Eugênio Lefèvre, based on a single male and a putative female. In the collection of the Museum of Zoology I located two females from Eugênio Lefèvre in a vial with alcohol that had dried up and later refilled. Despite being discoloured, they could be recognized as belonging to K. tamoya , and their subgenital plates agreed entirely with those from females from PECJ. As regards the putative female in the original description ( Froehlich 1984), see comments under K. gracilenta . In PECJ, K. tamoya has been collected from September to December, but most fly in November–December (74% in November, 17% in December).
