Type species of Haplothrix SCHILSKY : Dasytiscus aequalis REITTER, 1885 (by subsequent designation by MAJER (1989a: 757)).

Diagnoses of Haplothrix SCHILSKY : SCHILSKY (1896: 32 H) in a key as a subgenus of Dasytiscus KIESENWETTER, 1859 (relying on eidonomy). - MAJER (1989a: 757-758) as a genus in a generic revision (relying on anatomy and morphology). - MAJER (1996b: 475-476) as a genus in a subsequent generic revision with checklist (differential to the other chaetomalachiine genera).
