Tachygerris cf. surinamensis Hungerford & Matsuda, 1958 View in CoL
( Fig. 12 View FIGURE 12 )
We have several males and females from Alajuela Province that agree well with T. surinamensis . However, because the known distribution of the species is restricted to northern Brazil and Suriname, and no specimens have been examined in two recent revisions of the genus ( Morales & Molano 2009, Mondragón et al. 2017), our identification is provisional, pending confirmation. If confirmed, the first record from Costa Rica would represent a wide westward expansion of the range of this species. Our material was collected in the same type of habitats as those of T. opacus and T. quadrilineatus , in the Atlantic and Pacific slopes up to 876 m a.s.l.
Material examined. Alajuela— Upala , Canalete River Hydropower Project , N 10° 46.467’, W -83° 02.700’, 325 m a.s.l, 24.VIII.2008, (B. Pacheco): 2 males ( MZUCR) . San Ramón , REBAMB, X.2008, (B. Pacheco): 1
