This species is known only from Costa Rica, with previous records from Alajuela, Cartago, Puntarenas, and San José provinces ( Drake & Harris 1934, Matsuda 1961a, Morales & Molano 2009). It is found along the Pacific slope of the country, in temporary puddles along roadsides between 700 and 2,292 m a.s.l.
