Metrobates porcus Anderson, 1932

Previously recorded from Mexico to Nicaragua ( Anderson 1932; Drake & Harris 1932a, 1938; Beck 1936; Drake 1954; Polhemus & Polhemus 2002), and herein reported for the first time from Costa Rica, in the provinces of Alajuela, Cartago, and Limón. During our sampling, M. porcus was collected in the North Caribbean region at Cote Lake, the largest natural lake of Costa Rica, which is used for hydropower production. It was also caught in rivers from the South Caribbean region and in a highland (Irazú Volcano National Park), up to 2,700 m a.s.l.
