Neanthes View in CoL sp.
Material examined. Iran, Persian Gulf, Hormoz Island , Center of Ecosystem Research , 1 specimen ( ZUTC 6159 ). Habitat. Intertidal, rocky substrate covered with algae.
Remarks. The single specimen examined lacks the posterior part of the body. It differs from specimens of Neanthes deplanata in both the form and the numbers of paragnaths: the maxillary ring has conical paragnaths in all areas, paragnaths absent in Areas V and VI, and present as a band of different sized conical paragnaths in three rows in Area VII–VIII. Notochaetae include homogomph spinigers and neurochaetae include homogomph and heterogomph spinigers and homogomph and heterogomph falcigers. Further specimens are required before definitive conclusions can be made about species identity.
