Alepia sp.

We collected larvae of this widespread psychodid genus from both wild and ornamental bromeliad phytotemata throughout St. Thomas. This represents a new record for the US Virgin Islands. At this time it is not possible for us to determine which species we have. Wagner et al. (2008) describe A. zavortinki from bromeliads in Puerto Rico, and report three additional bromeliad phytotelmata specialists: A. tricolour (Knab, 1914) from Panama, A. symmetrica Wagner and Hribar, 2005 , from Florida, and A. vavga Wagner and Svensson, 2006 , from Brazil. Alepia martinicana (Wagner, 1993) and A. buskana (Dyar, 1926) are reported from Martinique ( Quate and Brown 2004) but are not known from phytotelmata.
