Copelatus sp.

At least 13 species are reported from the Caribbean ( Leng and Mutchler 1914, 1917; Young 1953; Peck 2016; Megna et al. 2018), but this extremely large genus (480+ species) is in great need of revision, so we are not assigning species to the material we found at this time ( Miller and Bergsten 2016). Several species have narrow distributions and are considered island-specific endemics in Cuba and Guadeloupe ( Peck 2016; Megna et al. 2018). We found specimens in Flamboyan and Mahogany Run ghuts, and in pools at Magens Beach.
