Material examined. Lectotype of Epyris montivagus Kieffer , designated here, ♂: PERU, Cuzco, Cajon, Bergland , 1500m, 10.XII.1900, Garlepp col. ( ZMHB, 170 ). Paralectotypes: 1 ♂, PERU, Marcapata , V. Staudinger col. ( ZMHB, # 175 ), 3 ♂, PERU, Cuzco, Cosnipata-Ebene , 1000m, S.V. 3.XII.1900, Garlepp col. ( ZMHB, # 174 , 176 , 177 ), 1 ♂, PERU, Pachitea-Fluss , V. Staudinger col. ( ZMHB, # 172 ).
Diagnosis. MALE ( Fig. 97 View FIGURES 97 – 108. 97 – 101 ). Black. Mandible with five apical teeth ( Fig. 98 View FIGURES 97 – 108. 97 – 101 ). Clypeus with angulate median lobe. Antennal scrobe wholly carinate. Frons polished. Vertex almost straight. Pronotal disc not carinate; anterior corner rounded; posterior margin paralleled by series of punctures; side of disc with ventral margin elevated. Scutellar pit transverse. Mesopleuron with subtegular groove wider anteriorly, lower margin undefined; anterior fovea subquadrate; upper fovea elliptical; lower fovea with upper margin absent, lower margin absent on posterior half ( Fig. 99 View FIGURES 97 – 108. 97 – 101 ). Genitalia ( Figs 100, 101 View FIGURES 97 – 108. 97 – 101 ): paramere as long as basiparamere, apex inclined and rounded, dorsal margin straight, developed inward basally, ventral margin straight; cuspis slightly longer than half length of paramere, deeply divided into two equally sized arms, dorsal arm slightly wider than ventral arm; aedeagus bottleshaped, apical half progressively narrow apically, apex aligned with cuspis apex, ventral surface with conspicuous projection ventrad; basal half of apodeme very dilated. FEMALE unknown.
Distribution. Mexico (Oaxaca), Honduras, Costa Rica, Panama, Venezuela, Ecuador, Peru, Brazil (Amazonas, Rondônia, São Paulo), Bolivia.
Remarks. According original publication the syntype series is composed 8 ♂ and 1 ♀, but here I was not able to see only 2 ♂ and 1 ♀.
