Type Locality: Australia, Northern Territory, Alexandria.

Vernacular Names: Long-tailed Planigale.

Subspecies Planigale ingrami subsp. subtilissima Lönnberg 1913

Distribution: Australia: N and E Queensland, NE Northern Territory, NE Western Australia.

Conservation: U.S. ESA – Endangered as P. i. subtilissima; IUCN – Lower Risk (lc).

Discussion: See Archer (1976:351). Woolley (1974) suggested that Western Australian P. i. subtilissima may be specifically distinct. A related but distinct species, referred to simply as Planigale 2 by Painter at al. (1995), is known from the Pilbara, Western Australia.
