Lectotype (Podlech in Sendtnera 1: 271. 1993): Gmelin s.n., Herb. Linn. No. 926.61 ( LINN) .

Current name: Astragalus tragacanthoides L. ( Fabaceae : Faboideae ).

Note: Chater (in Feddes Repert. 79: 48. 1968) noted that the identity of this name was uncertain but that its description matched material in LINN which was neither a member of sect. Myobroma, nor a European species. With its subsequent typification by Podlech, A. tragacanthoides became the correct name for the species previously known as A. fruticans Pall. (1800) .
