Type genus. Acanthoplectron Esben-Petersen, 1918 View in CoL .

Description. Head: ocular setae generally present. Metathorax: Miller’s organ absent. Wings: Banksian lines absent. Legs: generally short (profemur <2x longer than procoxa length). Male terminalia: gonarcus as a simple narrow arch; mediuncus weakly sclerotized (mostly membranous); paramere well developed (most prominent structures). Female terminalia: anterior gonapophyses absent; posterior gonapophyses without cavisetae; 9 th tergite without the ventral digitiform process; ventromedial plate usually present.

Distribution. Southeast Asia, Australia: NSW, NT, QLD, SA, VIC, and WA. Widespread across mainland Australia.

Included genera. Acanthoplectron , Anomaloplectron , Csiroleon , Fissuleon gen. nov., Franzenia , Fusoleon , Latileon gen. nov., Layahima .

Comments. Our results corroborate those of Machado et al. (2019), who presented a very similar tree. The concept of Acanthoplectrini presented by Machado et al. (2019) included six genera: Layahima Navás from Southeast Asia and other five from Australia: Acanthoplectron and the four formerly placed in Periclystina ( Anomaloplectron , Csiroleon , Franzenia , Fusoleon ). Herein two new genera are included in the tribe, Fissuleon gen. nov. and Latileon gen. nov., which are created to keep all genera within the tribe monophyletic. All acanthoplectrine genera except Acanthoplectron and Layahima are reviewed here. For phylogenetic relationships see Fig. 4 View FIGURE 4 .
