This species which is placed in the genus Tylerius (see: Smith & Heemstra, 1986b) does not occur in the Red Sea (Hardy, 1984). Budker & Fourmanoir's (1954) record is evidently a misidentification of Arothron diadematus (Rüppell, 1829) . Note: a juvenile specimen was recently recorded near the Island of Rhodes in the Mediterranean and considered to be a possible Lessepsian migrant ( Corsini et al.,
2005).
