43. Lack of lateral process of frontal contacting anterolateral margin of sphenotic spine (character 21, 1> 0). Independently acquired in A. nasutus .

44. Dilatator groove without large anterior opening for passage of dilatator operculi muscle bordered entirely by frontal (character 22, 1> 0). Independently acquired in A. isalineae and A. nasutus .

45. Posteriorly elongate parasphenoid, its free distal tip reaching vertical through first centrum (character 28, 0> 1).

46. Lack of gill rakers on trailing edge of first ceratobranchial (character 61, 1 <0). Independently acquired in clade formed by A. altus , A. abbreviatus , A. falcatus , A. falcirostris , A. heterolepis ; A. isalineae , A. lacustris , A. nasutus , and A. pantaneiro .

47. Gill rakers on trailing edge of second ceratobranchial very reduced in size and number (character 62, 0> 1).
