Type material. CHINA, Yunnan Province: Holotype female from Zhaotong City, Daguan County, Huanglian River Scenic Spot , 27.73°N, 103.92°E, 1558 m, 29 April 2016, H. Zhang, Y. Zhong & Y. Zhu leg. ( CBEE, LJ2145 ). GoogleMaps

Etymology. The specific name is dedicated to Mr Fengxiang Liu for his kind help on our Sparassidae collection; name in genitive case.

Diagnosis. The female of P. liui Zhang, Jäger & Liu , spec. nov. is similar to that of P. exiguoides by: 1) Anterior margins of LL distinctly V-shaped; 2) IDS become thinner near the middle line of LL, but can be distinguished by posterior margins of LL without projection (with distinct lateral projections in P. exiguoides ).

FEMALE (LJ2145): Measurements: Medium sized. Body length 11.8, DS length 5.3, width 4.6, OS length 6.5, width 4.7. Eyes: AME 0.23, ALE 0.35, PME 0.26, PLE 0.31, AME–AME 0.12, AME–ALE 0.06, PME– PME 0.23, PME–PLE 0.34, AME–PME 0.31, ALE–PLE 0.28, CH AME 0.37, CH ALE 0.29. Spination: Pp 131, 101, 2121, 1014; Fe I–III 323, IV 331; Pa I–IV 100; Ti I–II 2228, III–IV 2126; Mt I–II 2024, III 2026, IV 3036. Measurements of palps and legs: Pp 6.3 (1.8, 0.7, 1.1, –, 2.7); I 19.0 (5.7, 2.0, 5.4, 4.7, 1.2); II 22.8 (6.5, 2.4, 6.7, 5.4, 1.8); III 14.6 (5.0, 1.6, 3.9, 3.4, 0.7); IV 18.2 (6.1, 1.2, 4.3, 5.0, 1.6). Leg formula: II-I-IV-III. Cheliceral furrow with ca. 27 denticles.

Epigyne ( Figs 142A–C View FIGURE 142 ): As in diagnosis. EF wider than long, AB long, but indistinct. Anterior margins of LL forming broad “V”. FW well developed, covering the entire IDS. FD long, narrow.

Colouration ( Figs 143A–B View FIGURE 143 ): DS yellowish-brown with marbled pattern, some spots and two darker lateral bands, margin with irregular black pattern. Fovea and striae distinctly marked. OS dorsally with three reddishbrown transversal lines and a reddish-brown line in longitudinal axis in front, ventrally with a dark median band and laterally with lots of reddish-brown spots and irregular patterns.

MALE: Unknown.
