Type material. LAOS, Vientiane Province: Holotype male from Phou Khao Khouay NBCA, North of Ban Vangheua , 18.35°N, 102.81°E, 820 m, A.F. Newton & M.K. Thayer leg. ( FMNH).

Etymology. The specific name is derived from the Latin adjective caudatus, - a, - um, meaning “caudate”, referring to the E tip looking with fine wrinkles like a fishtail; adjective.

Diagnosis. The male of P. caudata Zhang, Jäger & Liu , spec. nov. resembles that of P. mediana by the

RTA simple, spermophor S-shaped on tegular bulge in prolateral view, but can be distinguished by: 1) RTA arising proximally to medially from Ti; 2) E broad, with fishtail-shaped tip, without EP (RTA arising medially from Ti, E with sharp distal tip, EP sheet-shaped in P. mediana ).

MALE: Measurements: Medium sized. Body length 11.3, DS length 5.4, width 5.7, OS length 5.9, width 2.9. Eyes: AME 0.30, ALE 0.40, PME 0.32, PLE 0.38, AME– AME 0.18, AME–ALE 0.13, PME–PME 0.25, PME–PLE 0.42, AME–PME 0.38, ALE–PLE 0.30, CH AME 0.44, CH ALE 0.40. Spination: Pp 131, 101, 2121; Fe I–III 323, IV 321; Pa I–IV 101; Ti I–III 2224, IV 2226; Mt I–II 1014, III 2024, IV 3036. Measurements of palps and legs: Pp 8.6 (2.7, 1.2, 1.8, –, 2.9); I 30.4 (8.8, 2.7, 8.4, 8.2, 2.3); II 33.5 (9.2, 2.9, 9.8, 8.8, 2.8); III 23.7 (6.9, 2.5, 6.4, 6.1, 1.8); IV 29.3 (8.4, 2.0, 7.9, 8.4, 2.6). Leg formula: III-IV-III. Cheliceral furrow with ca. 23 denticles.

Palp ( Figs 46A–C ): As in diagnosis. C arising from tegulum at 12:00 o’clock position. E flat, arising from T at 8:00 o’clock position, with slightly transparent wrinkles at its apical part, giving a fishtail-like appearance. RTA wide and flat.

Colouration ( Figs 47A–B ): DS dorsally yellowish brown, with marbled pattern. Fovea and striae distinctly marked. OS dorsally ochre with pairs of darker spots from middle to posterior part, ventrally light yellow with small dark triangle in front of spinnerets.

FEMALE: Unknown.

Distribution. Laos (Vientiane Province).
