Type material. CHINA, Yunnan Province: Holotype female from Jietou Township, Datang Village , 25.42°N, 98.41°E, 1878 m, 19 May 2006 , X. Peng, X. Wang & P. Hu leg. ( CAS, CAS0036 View Materials ). GoogleMaps

Etymology. The specific name is derived from the type locality, the Datang Village; adjective.

Diagnosis. The female of P. datangensis Zhang, Jäger & Liu , spec. nov. is similar to that of P. fabularis Jäger, 2008 ( Jäger 2008b) by the U-shaped anterior margins of LL, FW well developed, but can be distinguished by the following characters: 1) Anterior margins of LL short; 2) FW covering most part of IDS except for laterad tips (anterior margins of LL longer, almost parallel to posterior margins, FW covering the whole IDS, running parallel to longitudinal axis of body in P. fabularis ).

FEMALE (CAS0036): Measurements: Medium sized. Body length 17.1, DS length 7.0, width 5.9, OS length 10.1, width 7.1. Eyes: AME 0.24, ALE 0.33, PME 0.28, PLE 0.30,AME–AME 0.22,AME–ALE 0.16, PME– PME 0.29, PME–PLE 0.43, AME–PME 0.36, ALE–PLE 0.33, CH AME 0.49, CH ALE 0.36. Spination: Pp 131, 101, 2121, 1014; Fe I–II 323, III 322, IV 331; Pa I–III 101, IV 000; Ti I–II 2228, III–IV 2126; Mt I–II 3034, III–IV 3036. Measurements of palps and legs: Pp 9.1 (2.5, 1.4, 2.0, –, 3.2); I 26.5 (7.5, 3.2, 7.3, 6.4, 2.1); II 31.0 (8.2, 3.6, 9.1, 7.5, 2.6); III 22.4 (6.8, 2.5, 5.9, 5.2, 2.0); IV 24.7 (7.7, 1.7, 6.1, 7.1, 2.1). Leg formula: II-I-IV-III. Cheliceral furrow with ca. 16 denticles.

Epigyne ( Figs 82A–C View FIGURE 82 ): As in diagnosis. EF wider than long, with almost unsclerotized AB. LL semicircular, with small incision at their posterior margin, building roughly a transverse rectangle with anterior margins. FD laterad in dorsal view.

Colouration ( Figs 83A–B View FIGURE 83 ): DS reddish brown, with light area behind fovea, the latter distinctly marked. OS dorsally with several dark brown marks, ventrally with one longitudinal brown median field tapering towards spinnerets.

MALE: Unknown.
