Type material. CHINA, Yunnan Province: Holotype male from Xishuangbanna Dai Autonomous Prefecture, Xishuangbanna Tropical Botanical Garden, Tropical Rain Forest , 21.92°N, 101.26°E, 560 m, 21 November 2019, B. Liang, J. Chen, J. Liu & Z. Li leg. ( CBEE, lj132-0799- 0811). GoogleMaps

Etymology. The specific name is derived from the Latin adjective colossus, - a, - um, meaning “huge”, referring to the very wide E; adjective.

Diagnosis. The male of P. colossa Zhang, Jäger & Liu , spec. nov. is similar to that of P. daliensis in having a similarly shaped E(in ventral view)and RTA(in retrolateral view), but can be distinguished by: 1) Proximal margin of E with distinct proximad lobe; 2) dRTA in ventral view with smooth distal margin (proximal margin of E straight, dRTA serrated in P. daliensis ).

MALE (lj132-0799-0811): Measurements: Small sized. Body length 8.5–8.4, DS length 4.0, width 3.5, OS length 4.4, width 2.9. Eyes: AME 0.18, ALE 0.26, PME 0.21, PLE 0.24,AME–AME 0.23,AME–ALE 0.14, PME– PME 0.27, PME–PLE 0.39, AME–PME 0.33, ALE–PLE 0.30, CH AME 0.43, CH ALE 0.32. Spination: Pp 131, 101, 2101; Fe I–II 323, III 322, IV 331; Pa I–III 101, IV 000; Ti I–II 2228, III–IV 2126; Mt I–II 3034, III–IV 3036. Measurements of palps and legs: Pp 6.2 (1.6, 0.9, 1.3, –, 2.4); I 16.8 (4.9, 1.7, 4.6, 4.3, 1.3); II 20.1 (5.4, 1.8, 6.3, 5.0, 1.6); III 12.8 (3.8, 1.5, 3.4, 3.1, 1.0); IV 16.1 (5.1, 1.2, 4.0, 4.4, 1.4). Leg formula: II-I-IV-III. Cheliceral furrow with ca. 14 denticles.

Palp ( Figs 58A–C View FIGURE 58 ): As in diagnosis. C arising from T at 12:00 o’clock position. Cymbium with large retrolateral bulge. T covering almost the whole alveolus, projecting proximally distinctly beyond alveolus margin. E arising from T at 9:00 o’clock position, its tip prolaterad. RTA arising proximally to medially from Ti. vRTA broad, its tip pointing to dRTA in retrolateral view. dRTA slightly bent in retrolateral view.

Colouration ( Figs 59A–B View FIGURE 59 ): DS yellow with irregular pattern consisting of reddish-brown spots and narrow lines and small patches of dark hairs, fovea and striae distinctly marked. OS dorsally reddish-brown with yellow spots, ventrally yellow with large reddish-brown spots arranged symmetrically, smaller dots interspersed.
