Type material. CHINA, Yunnan Province: Holotype male from Zhaotong City, Weixin County, Gaotian Township , Houshan Natural Village , 27.99°N, 105.22°E, 1336 m, 28 June 2020, C. Tao leg. ( CBEE, LJ202005003 ) GoogleMaps . Paratype: 1 male, with same data as for holotype ( CBEE, LJ202005005 ) GoogleMaps .
Etymology. The specific name is a patronym in honour of the collector, Mr Caifu Tao; noun in genitive case.
Diagnosis. The male of P. taoi Zhang, Jäger & Liu , spec. nov. is similar to that of P. roganda Jäger & Vedel, 2007 ( Jäger & Vedel 2007) by E sickle-shaped and similarly shape of RTA. It can be diagnosed by E longer, distinctly narrower at distal part (E shorter, about same width over its whole length in P. roganda ).
MALE (LJ202005003): Measurements: Small sized. Body length 8.1–8.5, DS length 4.4, width 4.3, OS length 3.0, width 2.1. Eyes: AME 0.18, ALE 0.32, PME 0.23, PLE 0.28, AME–AME 0.14, AME–ALE 0.09, PME– PME 0.26, PME–PLE 0.39, AME–PME 0.35, ALE–PLE 0.33, CH AME 0.41, CH ALE 0.34. Spination: Pp 131, 101, 2121; Fe I–II 323, III 322, IV 322; Pa I–III 101, IV 100; Ti I–II 2228, III–IV 2126; Mt I–II 2024, III 3025, IV 3036. Measurements of palps and legs: Pp 6.9 (2.0, 1.0, 1.4, –, 2.5); I 17.9 (5.6, 1.6, 5.1, 4.2, 1.4); II 23.0 (6.4, 2.2, 7.1, 5.7, 1.6); III 15.8 (4.9, 1.3, 4.6, 3.7, 1.3); IV 18.7 (5.8, 1.0, 4.9, 5.5, 1.5). Leg formula: II-IV-I-III. Cheliceral furrow with ca. 20 denticles.
Palp ( Figs 240A–C View FIGURE 240 ): As in diagnosis. C arising from T at 11:30–12:00 o’clock position, apically distinctly bent, tip ventrad. E arising from T at 9:00–9:30 o’clock position, turning narrow at its apical tip. T with small distal prolaterad hump and large diagonally oriented protrusion proximally. Spermophor visible submarginally on retrolateral T, appearing straight in ventral view. RTA arising proximally to medially from Ti, with thin dorsal part and broader ventral part.
Colouration ( Figs 241A–B View FIGURE 241 ): DS reddish brown with dark spots and a lot of dark setae, two indistinct lateral bands, margin with thin dashed line. Fovea and striae distinctly marked. OS dorsally reddish brown, with lots of dark marks, ventrally brown without pattern.
