Type material. CHINA, Hunan Province: Holotype female from Zhuzhou City, Yanling County, Taoyuan Cave Nature Reserve [26.43°N, 113.68°E], 321 m, 4 July 2008, J. Liu leg. ( CBEE, LJ1631 ). GoogleMaps

Etymology. The specific name is derived from the type locality, the Taoyuan Cave Nature Reserve; adjective.

Diagnosis. P. taoyuanensis Zhang, Jäger & Liu , spec. nov. can be distinguished from all congeners by sclerotised part of IDS with distinctly wrinkles, visible in ventral view.

FEMALE (LJ1631): Measurements: Medium sized. Body length 10.5, DS length 4.0, width 3.8, OS length 6.5, width 3.9. Eyes: AME 0.15, ALE 0.28, PME 0.21, PLE 0.25, AME–AME 0.13, AME–ALE 0.06, PME– PME 0.18, PME–PLE 0.33, AME–PME 0.27, ALE–PLE 0.24, CH AME 0.36, CH ALE 0.30. Spination: Pp 131, 101, 2121, 1014; Fe I -; II 323, III–IV 322; Pa I -; II–III 101, IV 100; Ti I -; II 2228, III–IV 2126; Mt I -; II 2024, III 3025, IV 3036. Measurements of palps and legs (leg. I missing): Pp 4.7 (1.4, 0.6, 1.0, –, 1.7); I – (-, -, -, -, -); II 11.7 (3.4, 1.3, 3.1, 2.8, 1.1); III 9.4 (2.7, 1.0, 2.9, 2.1, 0.7); IV 10.0 (3.1, 0.7, 2.5, 2.7, 1.0). Cheliceral furrow with ca. 14 denticles.

Epigyne ( Figs 242A–C View FIGURE 242 ): As in diagnosis. EF wider than long, with indistinct AB. LL touching each other along the middle line. IDS running from orifices posteriorad, turning anteriorad and laterad, then to the orientation of FD. FW well developed, covering entire IDS in dorsal view.

Colouration ( Figs 243A–B View FIGURE 243 ): DS yellow with dark pattern and a light median band. Fovea and striae distinctly marked. Chelicerae with each 2 longituinal lines. Sternum yellow without pattern. OS dorsally yellow, with dark pattern and a transverse light line at posterior part. OS ventrally with several reddish-brown marks, arranged in 2 posteriorly converging rows.

MALE: Unknown.

Distribution. China (Hunan Province).
