( Figs. 3 View FIGURE 3 F–J)

Type material. Holotype: CHINA: Guizhou: ɗ, Leishan Co., SE-Kaili, NE Leishan, Leigong Shan, E-slope (26°22.56’N, 108°13.40’E), ca. 1700 m, 14–16.VI.2001, leg. H. Schillhammer ( NMW). Paratypes: CHINA: Guizhou: ɗ, Ψ, same data as holotype ( NMW); CHINA: Hubei: ɗ, Daba Shan pass E of Mt. Dashennongjia 12 km NW Muyuping (31°30’N, 110°21’E), 1950–2050 m, 22.VII.2001, leg. M. Schülke [C01-13E] ( CSB).

Description. Head and pronotum black, shining. Elytra dark brown with posterior margin markedly reddish-brown. Abdomen black with slight iridescent reflex. Antennae black or dark brown with basal two or three segments reddish-brown. Mandibles, maxillary and labial palpi and legs reddish-brown.

Body 6.36–7.92 mm long (HPL = 2.12–2.20 mm). Head of rounded quadrangular shape, 0.90–0.98 mm long, 0.73–0.82 mm wide (HW:HL = 0.81–0.83). Tempora 0.41–0.49 mm long, almost evenly rounded, sparsely and coarsely punctate; eyes small, 0.25 mm long, 0.50–0.60 times as long as tempora. Dorsal surface of head with scattered, large setiferous punctures along lateral sides, vertex largely impunctate; entire head with distinct and profound microsculpture of transverse waves. Antennae moderately long, 1st segment long, slightly thickened towards apex, 3rd segment distinctly longer than 2nd, 4th–6th segments distinctly longer than wide, 7th–8th segments almost as long as wide, 9th–10th segments slightly transverse, last segment distinctly longer than wide, obliquely truncated.

Pronotum almost parallel-sided, 0.98–1.06 mm long, 0.82–0.90 mm wide, slightly wider than head (PW:HW = 1.10); dorsal rows each with six punctures, sublateral rows each with two punctures; entire surface with microsculpture similar to that on head.

Elytra 1.22–1.31 mm long, 1.22–1.31 mm wide, along sides 1.23–1.25 times as long as pronotum, densely and finely punctate, punctures separated by 1–2 times their diameter. Scutellum large, triangular, densely and finely punctate and pubescent.

Abdomen slightly narrowed posteriad, widest 1.22–1.38 mm, uniformly and densely punctate, punctures separated by 1–2 times their diameter; surface between punctures with exceedingly fine and dense microsculpture of transverse striae; tergites III–V with two basal lines, elevated area between basal lines almost impunctate.

Male. Sternite VIII with wide medio-apical emargination. Genital segment with styli of tergite IX simple, moderately setose apically. Sternite IX with basal portion narrow and long, almost symmetrical, apical portion split apically into two pubescent lobes bearing apical setae. Tergite X simple, triangular, subtruncated at apex.

Aedeagus large, quite characteristic; apical portion of median lobe asymmetrical, distinctly bent to right, with conspicuous latero-subapical extension and narrowed into finger-like apex ( Figs. 3 View FIGURE 3 F, H); in lateral view, apical portion gradually dilated, slightly bent dorsad, slightly emarginate latero-apically ( Figs. 3 View FIGURE 3 G, I); paramere short, divided into two wide branches, face adjacent to median lobe with sensory peg setae closely arranged along subapical margin of each branch ( Fig. 3 View FIGURE 3 J).

Female. Sternite VIII subrounded at apex, without medio-apical emargination. Genital segment with styli of tergite IX similar to that of male. Tergite X triangular, with narrow, subacuate apex.

Etymology. The specific name refers to the name of the type locality, Leigong Shan.

Distribution. The species is at present known from China (Guizhou and Hubei).

Remarks. The new species belongs to the G. deceptor group and is closely related to G. nasiformis sp. n.. Gabrius leigongshanus sp. n. can be easily distinguished from the latter species by the darker antennae (antennae entirely reddish-brown in the latter species). It is also very similar to G. curvipenis Schillhammer, 1997 . Gabrius leigongshanus sp. n. differs from G. curvipenis by the entirely dark abdomen and more slender and oblong pronotum. It differs from both species by the different aedeagus, especially the apical portion of the median lobe.
