Diagnosis. Males of A. taeniifera and A. incrassata sp. nov. have a similar pedipalp with a tegular apophysis bearing a two-lobed apex pointing ventrally. However, the prolateral lobe in A. taeniifera is longer and its prolateral margin projected ventrally forms an acute tip in retrolateral view ( Fig. 37C, D ), while in A. incrassata sp. nov. it is shorter, with the projecting prolateral margin truncated in retrolateral view ( Fig. 18C, D ). Females of A. taeniifera differ from other described females of the genus by the lateral lobes of the epigyne having rounded mesal margins, very close together, dividing the median septum into one semicircular area anteriorly ( Fig. 38C ).

Life history and habitat preferences. In south-western Western Australia, mature spiders have been found in winter and early spring. Artoria taeniifera prefers open habitats such as coastal dunes, gardens, and open woodlands ( Framenau & Baehr 2018).

Distribution. South-western Western Australia, with isolated records into southern South Australia and central New South Wales ( Fig. 36 ).
