Type Locality: Papua New Guinea, Milne Bay Prov., Mt. Mura, (30 mi [48 km] NW Mt. Simpson), Boneno, 1220-1525 m.

Vernacular Names: Papuan Bandicoot.

Distribution: SE interior New Guinea, 1200-2650 m.

Conservation: IUCN – Data Deficient. Rare.

Discussion: Formerly included in Peroryctes , but see Groves and Flannery (1990).
