Thionissa Metcalf 1938: 412 , syn. n. Type species: Thionissa acuta Metcalf 1938 .
Diagnosis: Metope long and narrow, with only median keel, its upper margin angulately concave. Postclypeus with strong median carina. Coryphe long and narrow, with keel-shaped lateral margins (trench-shaped). Fore wings with very narrow hypocostal plate. Radius bifurcate, median tetra-or pentafurcate, cubitus anterior simple (R 2 M 4-5 CuA 1). Hind wings well developed, 3-lobed. Hind tibia with 2 lateral teeth. Metatarsomere I with 6-8 intermediate socle setae.
