This name is a nomen nudum listed by Heyden for a species parasitized by Pteroptrix coniferarum Fst. Lindinger (1954: 618) treated the name Coccus mytiliformis as a junior synonym of Mytilococcus piceae Amerling but Borchsenius (1966: 378) treated the name Mytilococcus piceae as a nomen nudum also. Current status: Because Lindinger (1954: 618) placed the name Lepidosaphes newsteadi (Šulc) with Mytilococcus piceae Amerling , we believe that the name Coccus mytiliformis Heyden should be placed instead with Lepidosaphes newsteadi (Šulc) (Family Diaspididae ).
