This name is a trinomen and, although it precedes Coccus variegatus Gmelin, 1790: 2221 , Gmelin’s name is the valid one. Both names are junior synonyms of Chermes roboris Fourcroy . Current status: Kermes roboris (Fourcroy) (see Miller et al. 2005) (Family Kermesidae ).
