- Female with foretibia broadly swollen, thicker than forefemur and mid- and hind tibia. This feature is present also in an undescribed species from Thailand. Males have a slender foretibia. The feature is otherwise unknown within the Culicomorpha although Fittkauhelea also have a disproportionally swollen foretibia, more or less for the apical 0.6 of the tibia, also a unique feature.
