- Female tarsomeres 5 each with 1–3 stout more elongate spines with long slender apices distal to the batonnets. This feature is unique in the family. Mallochohelea have a slender spine with a long slender apex distal to their batonnets on each of their tarsomeres 5 (and similar to somewhat thicker setae in some other genera) that may be an intermediate condition but more likely is independently derived.
