- Male paramere with apex “head-like”, dilated and laterally flattened and with a rounded or pointed tip ( Debenham 1974). The parameres of Ceratopogonidae come in a remarkable variety of forms (see characters 122–124 and “Uncertain Character States”) but this feature appears to be unique and restricted to this genus.
