scientific name

Nilobezzia
status

Nilobezzia View in CoL :

- Male with gonocoxite and gonostylus fused, with gonostylus much reduced at very apex (as indicated by a weak line of demarcation). This feature is unique in the Culicomorpha. Some Chironominae have a fused gonocoxite and gonostylus but it remains evident that the gonostylus is of normal length with the presence of a constriction between the gonocoxite and gonostylus in nearly all of these. Some Riethia Kieffer ( Cranston 2019) are fused in a somewhat similar manner to that of Nilobezzia , obviously a case of homoplasy.
