Type Locality: " Chili," restricted by Cabrera (1957) to "alrededores de Valparaíso." [ Chile].

Discussion: Kipp (1965) considered rex as conspecific with chinga ; however, it was listed as separate by Osgood (1943) and Cabrera (1957). Synonyms allocated according to Cabrera (1958).
