Original material: [icon] in Shaw, Cat. Pl. Afr. As.: 41, f. 231. 1738.

Current name: Zygophyllum coccineum L. ( Zygophyllaceae ).

Note: El Hadidi (in Webbia 33: 56. 1978) designated a Shaw specimen from Memphis, Egypt (BM) as lectotype. However, this has not been located in BM, and would not, in any case, have been seen by Linnaeus so it is not original material for the name.
