Coenypha Simon, 1895 View in CoL

Type species: Coenypha edwardsi (Nicolet, 1849) View in CoL Diagnosis. Species of Coenypha View in CoL are similar to those of Sidymella View in CoL due to the presence of a retrolateral trichobothria on the male palpal tibia and the disposition of the coiled and membranous copulatory ducts of the female genitalia. However, species of Coenypha View in CoL can be easily recognized by their flattened habitus, wide opisthosoma, enlarged femora I and slightly curved anterior tibiae. The epigynal plate of females has exposed openings separated by a robust median septum, and their copulatory ducts are wider than those of Sidymella View in CoL , leading to a pair of walnut-shaped spermathecae (with several constrictions and internal subdivisions). The male palp bears a long and laminar embolus, as in Sidymella View in CoL ; however, in Coenypha View in CoL , the tegulum is smooth and the RTA has grooves instead of nodes.

Taxonomic acts

Stephanopis antennata Tullgren, 1902 View in CoL : Holotype female from Aysén, Chile (NHRS, examined through photographs). Transferred to Coenypha View in CoL Coenypha antennata (Tullgren, 1902) View in CoL comb. nov.

Stephanopis ditissima (Nicolet, 1849) View in CoL : Holotype female from Chile (MNHN 4176, examined). Transferred to Coenypha View in CoL Coenypha ditissima (Nicolet, 1849) View in CoL comb. nov.

Stephanopis nodosa (Nicolet, 1849) View in CoL : Holotype female from Valdivida, Chile (MNHN 4194, examined). Transferred to Coenypha View in CoL Coenypha nodosa (Nicolet, 1849) View in CoL comb. nov.

Composition. The genus Coenypha View in CoL (stricto sensu) is composed, after the taxonomic acts proposed here, of seven valid species recorded for the Andean and Patagonian regions: Coenypha edwardsi (Nicolet, 1849) View in CoL ; Coenypha antennata (Tullgren, 1902) View in CoL comb. nov.; Coenypha ditissima (Nicolet, 1849) View in CoL comb. nov.; Coenypha fasciata Mello-Leitão, 1926 View in CoL ; Coenypha fuliginosa (Nicolet, 1849) View in CoL ; Coenypha lucasi (Nicolet, 1849) View in CoL and Coenypha nodosa (Nicolet, 1849) View in CoL comb. nov.
