78. Syntormon aulicum (Meigen, 1824) (SYMPYCINAE) – new to Croatia
[31] 2♂, 1♀, 18.VII.2005, SW.
Habitat. RECORDED FROM PERMANENT REED MARSHES AND DITCHES WITH REED VEGETATION (DECLEER et al. 2015).
Remarks. THE TWO CROATIAN MALES DIFFER FROM S. aulicum FROM BELGIUM bY THEIR SLIGHTLY SMALLER STATURE, THE PALER MID COXA, AND MOST STRIKINGLY bY THE LARGE PULVILLI IN ALL LEGS WHICH ARE AbOUT AS LONG AS TARSOMERE 5 VERSUS ½ X AS LONG AS TARSOMERE 5 IN THE BELGIAN SPECIMENS. HOWEVER, AS THE MSSC IN THE HIND METATARSUS AND THE HYPOPYGIAL APPENDAGES DID NOT SHOW DISTINCT DIFFERENCES, THE CROATIAN SPECIMENS WERE ULTIMATELY CONSIDERED TO bELONG TO S. aulicum .
