80. Syntormon silvianum Pârvu, 1989 (SYMPYCINAE) – new to Croatia
[21] 3♀, 23.VII.2006, ASP.
Habitat. RECORDED FROM FORESTS (SWAMPS, MOIST AND WET DECIDUOUS FORESTS), LESS COMMON IN MARSHLANDS.
Remarks. THIS SPECIES IS CLOSELY RELATED TO Syntormon monile (HALIDAY, 1851) FROM WHICH IT CAN bE DISTINGUISHED bY THE DIFFERENTLY SHAPED MSSCS IN THE LEGS OF THE MALES (PâRVU 1989). FEMALES CAN MOST EASILY bE SEPARATED bY THE COLOUR OF THE AbDOMEN, WHICH IS UNIFORMLY METALLIC GREEN IN S. silvianum AND HAS TERGITES WITH YELLOW LATERAL SPOTS IN S. monile (PâRVU 2009). ALL CROATIAN FEMALES HAD AN ENTIRELY GREEN METALLIC AbDOMEN.
